Celebrated for its warm, inviting atmosphere and exceptional service, Wiley's has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
The essence of Wiley's dining experience is beautifully captured in the glowing reviews from patrons. John Kaluza lauds the "amazing" service and praises the exquisite blackened haddock tacos, perfectly complimented by a decadent lobster roll and a carrot cake that he deems "the best he's ever had." It’s this kind of attention to detail that earned Wiley's the prestigious title of "Hospitality of the Year" for all of Nova Scotia in 2025.
Each dish is a testament to Chef Shane's skillful craftsmanship, where local ingredients meet inspired culinary creativity. The chowder, as described by Tobi Brooks, is hailed as the "best I've ever had," while the crab and haddock fish cakes are served with a house slaw that leaves diners craving more. The perfect balance of flavors, coupled with the fresh, high-quality ingredients, makes every plate a celebration of Nova Scotian cuisine.
Wiley's operates with a family-friendly mindset, as exemplified in Erin Thomson's review. Accommodating parents and children with toys, baby spoons, and special snacks, the staff ensures that every visit is stress-free. It’s this kind of heartfelt service that makes Wiley's not just a restaurant, but a community hub where families can gather and create lasting memories.
The restaurant’s aesthetic beautifully marries rustic charm and modern sophistication, drawing inspiration from its previous life as an old general store. This unique setting enhances the dining experience, making it as much about the ambiance as it is about the food. As Samantha Thompson points out, the cocktails are not only delicious but beautifully presented, enhancing the overall indulgence of the meal.
In every visit, diners are met with a team of dedicated staff members like Stephanie, Beth, and Hillary, who regularly check in to ensure that your experience is nothing short of perfect. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during the bustling summer months, as word of this hidden jewel spreads throughout the region.
In conclusion, if you find yourself in Wallace, make sure to stop by Wiley's by the Wharf for a meal that promises an extraordinary blend of hospitality, flavor, and community spirit. Whether you're indulging in tantalizing dishes or sipping on expertly crafted cocktails, a visit to Wiley's is bound to leave an imprint on your culinary journey through Nova Scotia.
“ Had supper at Wiley's tonight with the wife absolutely amazing all I can say. Hands down one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant in Nova Scotia and in my previous line of work I've been to many restaurants throughout the province. The service was amazing our server Beth went above and beyond to make our experience the best. I can see why their staff won 2025s hospitality of the year for all of Nova Scotia. The food was perfect blackened haddock tacos for a starter lobster roll and current burger for mains and carrot cake that is the best I've ever had.( Pre-ordered one for my birthday ) Thank you Wiley's staff for making this an experience we will never forget we will be back ”
“ Had dinner here for Mothers Day, as usual the food, drinks and service were top notch. What really impressed me was how accommodating they were to us bringing our very vocal 9 month old boy. Toys, baby spoons and special snacks were all provided and he was treated like one of their own. Thanks for making it a special, stress-free dinner! ”
“ Happened upon Wiley's by the Wharf today driving the coastline of NB and NS. Beautiful old general store converted to restaurant in Wallace, NS between Pugwash and Tatamougoche. Beautiful building, decor, and atmosphere. Wonderful service from Stephanie and Shane. The chowder was the best I have ever had! Fish cakes made with crab and haddock served with a house slaw to die for! Lobster roll and Caesar salad were delicious. Looking forward to going back for a dinner...we were looking for a place to stay on our way back to Halifax for when we come back up for dinner and spend the night. They did mention they were sold out the last 2 nights so make sure you book in advance. Should have taken photos but I was so excited to try each item after the chowder. Thank you Stephanie and Shane, see you soon! Tom and Tobi ”
“ My husband and I finally had the chance to dine together here and after hearing amazing reviews for years, I can finally confirm Wileys goes above and beyond all expectations. We shared the haddock tacos, I had the lobster roll with a ceaser salad, my husband had the current version of the Wileys burger and it was all without a doubt the best of each that weve ever had. We finished things off with house made carrot cake (which was too good for my husband to share with me lol) and skor cheesecake. The cocktails were beautifully made and presented, and the entertainment by Drew Polegato was just as amazing as the food. We had the pleasure of having Stephanie, Beth and Hillary all touch base with us throughout our evening, and each of them were as sweet and attentive as the next. Shane's cooking is absolutely out of this world. You won't find a more talented chef in Nova Scotia. Prices and portions were exactly as you would expect for the amazing quality of food and dining experience that you receive. Reservations are definitely recommended during the summer months, its easy to tell this hidden gem is not as hidden anymore! :) ”
“ What a delightful find. Chef Shane skilfully delivers a menu with outstanding flavours and Steph warmly engages customers in this unique and scenic setting. Four of us travelling together came across this delightful bistro/restaurant as a convenient lunch stop on a long drive. Our superb lunch experiences motivated us to organize our return trip to include another lunch at Wiley’s. We were not disappointed! Thank you, Shane and Steph. We will be back! ”
“ Food was amazing and Stephanie gave us exceptional service . The chowder was hot and delicious as was the burger. The pecan pie and chocolate fudge cake were delicious . Got to meet cook Shane to thank him for the scrumptious meal. Overall highly recommend a visit !! ”
“ What a hidden gem! I’ve driven by a million times and just never made a reservation. My in-laws’ anniversary was this past July 4th and the folks at Wiley’s made it a night to remember. From the excellent, prompt and perfectly attentive service to the scrumptious food, right through to dessert everything was top notch. My stuffed chicken breast may have been the best cooked one I’ve ever eaten! Definitely a pricier meal, but worth every penny and it is worth the drive to Wallace from wherever you are. Thanks for a memorable meal and we will definitely be back! ”
“ I eat at Wiley’s By The Wharf after church in Middleboro on Sundays and sometimes in the evenings whenever I’m at the cottage on Baxter Mountain in Central New Annan. Awesome place, engaging staff and amazing gourmet cuisine! Five stars! ”
